The third F-16 release
from Afterburner decals covers a unit that has been barely touched over
the years, the 524th FS. The decal sheet has a total of five aircraft
subjects, to include two D models. All are F-16CG block 40 aircraft
which took part in Operation Southern Watch (OSW) and Operation Iraqi
Freedom (OIF).
The instruction sheet list deployment notes on both operations and
aircraft deployed by tail number. Some of the tail numbers are not on
this sheet, but you’re referenced to Two Bobs F-16 stencil decals for
more options. A detailed load chart is provided and accurate block 40
characteristics are given. Proper line art drawings provide stencil
locations and a map of the upper fuselage beef up plate locations,
standard to USAF Block 40/42 aircraft.

The decals are well
printed by Microscale and registration is spot on. The decals real thin
and retain the minimum amount of carrier film to surround each marking.
While there are markings for all five aircraft, there are enough
stencils to do two complete aircraft.
The decals are appropriately sized for the Hasegawa F-16CG kit and the
instructions also mention the use of the F-16CJ kit, since the CG kit is
very hard to find at the moment. A list aftermarket sources to improved
and add to the kit is also provided. It‘s little details like these,
that become valuable reference when building the model!
This is a well researched decal sheet, as Afterburner has done their
homework yet again. This sheet comes highly recommended, as a real
quality product.
