Aussie Decals is now under new ownership and it is great to see that the fine quality decal products that we have come to expect from the former owner has continued.

Aussie Decals had gone a long way to fill the gap in the Royal Australian Air Force aircraft schemes along with a few other Australian companies and there was some concern as to how much longer we would have this line of decals.

The decals are designed mainly for the Highplanes Canberra Mk.20 kit but these could also be applied to the old Airfix kit if you have one stashed.

The decals are superbly printed with good colour saturation and register.

On my review sample it is not easy to define the emblem on the Squadron crest, but this may be that they are just too small for the details to be clear.

As usual the carrier film is ultra thin and my experience with Aussie Decals in the past has been that the decals have to be handled carefully and snuggle down into the surface detail well. The carrier film then almost totally disappears.

All the data decals are provided as well as the wing walkways. Markings are provided for 5 aircraft as follows:

  • Canberra Mk.20 A84-220 of 6 Sqn based at RAAF Base Pearce in Western Australia during 1955. The Scheme is overall aluminium dope with early roundels instead of Roos. The front of the engine cowls is in oxford blue and a template is supplied to help with masking this area.

  • Canberra Mk.20 A84-246 of 2 Sqn based at RAAF Base Butterworth in Malaya. The Scheme is overall aluminium dope with early roundels instead of Roos.

  • Canberra Mk.20 A84-210 of 1 Sqn based at RAAF Base Amberley in Queensland. The Scheme is overall aluminium dope with early roundels instead of Roos.

  • Canberra Mk.21 A84-201 of 1 Sqn (B) OCU based at RAAF Base Amberley in Queensland during 1963. The Scheme is overall aluminium dope with white upper surfaces. This aircraft has roundels with Roos and a yellow and black checkerboard tail flash.

  • Canberra Mk.20 A84-237 of ARDU. The Scheme is overall aluminium dope with white upper surfaces. This aircraft has roundels with Roos and the tail is overall Brunswick green with 2 yellow stripes with the ARDU emblem painted between them.

Highly Recommended
