24-005 is one of the earlier 1/24 scale North American P-51D sheets from Custom Aeronautical Miniatures (Cam Decals).  This sheet provides markings for the well known 'DETROIT Miss' - 44-14164 of the 375th Fighter Squadron, 361st Fighter Group whilst it was based at Bottisham in the UK, circa 1944.

The aircraft is in overall natural metal finish with black theatre band markings on its wings and horizontal stabilizers.  It wears the yellow nose and spinner sported by all of the 361st Fighter Group's aircraft, D-Day markings on the lower half of the rear fuselage, red wing tips, canopy frame and fin tip – a colourful aircraft to say the least!

The markings consist of:

·        The 375th's 'E2' squadron codes and individual 'D' aircraft code for the fuselage.

·        A set of national insignia.

·        The aircraft serial number for the vertical stabilizer/rudder.

·        The 'DETROIT Miss' name for the nose.  This marking is supplied in two parts-the red bomb with 'DETROIT Miss' in white and a further black decal that supplies the outline to the bomb and the 'DETROIT' and shadowing to the 'Miss'.

·        Kill markings for the canopy rail.  Again, this is a two part decal. A red and white decal of the background of the Nazi flags with a further black decal supplying the detail parts of the flags.

·        A fairly complete set of stencil data in black except for the red NO-STEP outline of the flap (left hand side).  A data block is included and it shows the correct serial number.

The decal placement guide is a single-sided A-4 sized sheet that shows a left hand side profile as well as a complete topside plan view of the upper surfaces of the wings.  A further left hand side view (in colour) is featured on the header card.

The decal sheet has been printed by Microscale and is up to their usual high standard.

The decal sheet, placement guide and header are packed in a clear plastic zip-loc bag.

The recommended kits are the Airfix and Trumpeter ones.

A nice sheet by CAM Decals that will really make your Airfix or Trumpeter 1/24th scale P-51D stand out.

Recommended.
