CAM has released a new decal sheet for the
F/A-18C Hornet in 1/48 scale.
There are two nice schemes for Operation Enduring
Freedom printed on each sheet. There are markings for an aircraft from
VFA-81 Sunliners and VFA 147 Argonauts.
The colour header sheet is as usual clearly
printed in colour. The black and white instruction sheet has all the
necessary views of the where the decals belong on each aircraft. The
decal sheets are clearly printed and in perfect register. The colours
are sharp and the decal film is very fine.
These decals will be a very good replacement for
the both the Monogram and Hasegawa 1/48 scale F/A-18s. My only concern
is that the formation lights are perhaps a bit too bright a shade of
yellow.
The decals themselves, have been printed by
Microscale and the art work is by Kamikaze studio concepts.
As usual almost all F18s in USN and USMC except
for CAG aircraft are low viz with fairly small markings.
Specifics for this release are as follows:
48-114 1/48 F18C Operation Enduring Freedom
This sheet contains an aircraft from the VFA-147
off the USS John C Stennis, Tail markings are NG. This aircraft is a
CAG aircraft and is more colourful then normal. Drawings of the
Pentagon and World Trade centres are included for inside of the
vertical stabilators and graffiti art has been supplied for the bombs.
The graffiti is quite clear and accurate.
The second aircraft is from VFA-81 Sunliners off
the USS George Washington, (Red chevron and stars). Tail markings are
AA with lightning bolt through them.
Highly
Recommended.
