CAM has released a new decal sheet for the
F/A-18C Hornet in 1/72 scale.
There are three nice schemes for Operation
Enduring Freedom printed on each sheet. These include markings for an
aircraft from VFA-94 Mighty Shrikes, VFA-151 Vigilantes and VFA-115
The colour header sheet is as usual clearly
printed in colour. The black and white instruction sheet has all the
necessary views of the where the decals belong on each aircraft. The
decal sheets are clearly printed and in perfect register. The colours
are sharp and the decal film is very fine. These decals will be a very
good replacement for all 1/72 scale F/A-18s.
As with all of CAM decals latest F/A-18 sheets my
only concern is that the formation lights are perhaps a bit too bright
a shade of yellow.
The decals themselves, have been printed by
Microscale and the art work is by Kamikaze studio concepts. As usual
almost all F/A-18s in USN and USMC except for CAG aircraft are low viz
with fairly small markings.

The first aircraft that this sheet contains is
from the VFA-94 off the USS Carl Vinson 2001 during Operation Enduring
Tail markings are NH. This aircraft is a CAG
aircraft and is more colourful than usual. The vertical stabilators
are trimmed in red and black. Graffiti art has been supplied for the
bombs. The graffiti is quite clear and accurate.
The second aircraft is from FA-151 Vigilantes off
the USS Contellation 1995. Tail markings are NE.
The third aircraft is from VFA-115 Eagles (yellow chevron) off the USS
Abraham Lincoln 1999.
Tail Markings are NK
