The latest decal sheet from the prolific Cutting Edge is designed
for the Tamiya or Hasegawa 1/48th scale P-51D. The sheet includes
markings for four natural metal machines from both the ETO and
Pacific. The first aircraft is "Ridge Runner" the mount of Major
Pierce McKennon of the 4th Fighter Group. What is nice on this
aircraft is that the red area is provided on the decal sheet. This
is the original "Ridge Runner" which is quite colorful.
The next aircraft is the mount of Captain Charles Weaver of the
362nd with some beautifully rendered nude nose art with some artist
kill markings.
The third airplane is the mount of Lt Col. Glenn Eagleston. I know
you are thinking Eagelston, didn't he fly the P-47? Yes he did. A
little known fact was that Eagleston scored all his victories in the
P-51 and when the Ninth traded in their P-51s for P-47s his scoring
streak ended. This aircraft has a gorgeous huge eagle on the left
side along with his impressive scoreboard.
The final Mustang is "The Flying Undertaker" of Major William Shomo
from the Pacific theater. It is very colorful with the large black
bands around the fuselage and wings with yellow highlights.
All the decals are beautifully rendered and in register. If you want
to have some beautiful and colorful markings these decals will fit
the bill.
Recommended.
