Eagle Cals always seem to release well-researched products. This decal sheet is no exception. It is also timely, as is intended for the quite superb 1/32 Trumpeter kit. As usual for this firm the decals are first rate in terms of printing, colour density and thin carrier film.

Marking Options

Three late war 262A-1 aircraft are depicted on the sheet and these are:

  1. Yellow 3 of II/KG(J) 54 in May of 1945. This aircraft has RLM 83 thinly applied on the upper and form the ref material I had on hand in some places the putty joins can be seen underneath the paint. The Undersides are RLM 76. The hard edge camo applied to the tail fin is represented as a decal and is very well done.

  2. The second aircraft is Red 13 of Heinz Bar of III/EJG 2. It seems from available references that nobody really knows if the colours were greys or late war browns and greens. Eagle Cal have gone the standard route with this one and depicted it as RLM 74/75 on the upper.

  3. The last Aircraft is Black 1 from III/JG 7 and was the aircraft of Rudi Sinner . The sheet says the aircraft should be painted in Banded Scheme of RLM 82/ 83 but I believe that may be a typo as it should be RLM 82/81 over RLM 76.The Aircraft was different as it carried 2 21cm rocket tubes under the nose.

Conclusion

This decal sheet is a welcome addition to a 1/32 scale Luftwaffe collection. If you like any of the aircraft depicted I would recommend it.
