Sheet 48203 from Eagle Strike Productions provides markings for two
Douglas A-20 Havocs:
F3-A
(the photographic version of the A-20J) 44-39440 'Robert E. Lee II' of
the 9th Air Force's 155th Night Photo Squadron, 10th Photo Group that
was based in Middle Wallop, in the United Kingdom. The aircraft is
camouflaged in olive drab over neutral grey camouflage with medium green
42 in an irregular wavy pattern applied to the leading and trailing
edges of the wings, horizontal and vertical stabilisers (to break up the
out line of the aircraft). The supplied markings are:
Nose art that comprises a confederate flag with the
words 'Robert E. Lee II' on a yellow banner. This marking was applied
to both sides of the aircraft and a third 'handed' version of the
marking is supplied. Your choice!
Yellow serial,
A set of blue bordered stars and bars national
insignia,
Black data block,
Upper wing walkways and fuel filler points,
Propeller logos and stencils, and
Red fire extinguisher panels.
A-20B 41-3171 'Lady Jean' of the 47th Bomb Group 12th
Air Force based at Youks Les Bain, in Algeria in December of 1942. The
machine is finished in olive drab over neutral grey camouflage and wears
the early war white star on a blue circle background national insignia.
The supplied markings include:
Yellow serial,
Nose art comprising a skull 'thumbing his nose' on a
dark blue background,
A set of white star on blue circle background
national insignia,
Three US flags, a large one for the underside of the
left wing and smaller ones for either side of the vertical stabiliser,
Black data block,
Upper wing walkways and fuel filler points,
Propeller logos and stencils, and
Red fire extinguisher panels.
The
decals have been printed by Microscale and are well up to the standard
we expect from this premier decal printing company. Apart from the
propeller logos, everything is in perfect register. Eagle Strike has
identified the problem with the propeller logos and a further set, in
perfect register, is supplied as on an errata sheet.
The
placement guide is A-4 in size and shows left hand side profiles of each
option as well as plan views of the upper surfaces of the wings for both
options.
The
decals and the placement guide come packed in a clear plastic zip-lock
bag.
The
recommended kits are the AMT/Ertl ones.
A
nice sheet from Eagle Strike Productions.
Recommended.
