I have just received from Flightdecs of Thunder Bay Canada,
their new decal offering of the 2003 Tiger Meet scheme, and I think that it is
super.
The markings come on four, approx A5 size sheets, one for the full colour
markings for the fin graphics, the roundels, white edging to the various colour
demarcations and the orange ‘tiger stripes’ to the inner sides of the fins. The
second sheet is for the all Grey tiger stripes on the lower section of the
fuselage and the darker grey markings under the LEXes and wing. The final two
sheets provide the Black Tiger stripe markings that go on the wing and fuselage
topside as well as the fuselage side stripes that mate up with the lower Grey
stripes as mentioned above.
The decals are printed extremely well, are nice and thin, and have minimal
varnish edging, apart from some of the Tiger stripes which are ‘webbed’ so that
you can easily align them on the model whilst applying the decal. For those who
wish too, this can be cut away, leaving just the coloured decal itself to apply,
but be sure that you know the spacing between the various stripes to get them
correct.
A full set of coloured instructions accompany the sheets and they also give a
sequence account of how to apply the decals onto the model which is a great help
as this is a complex scheme to emulate.
The colours for the topside are quoted as FS numbers and I think that you may
have to mix the various colours yourself (there may be ready mixed colours out
there but I am not aware of them as I write this – can anyone help?)
I am looking forward, with a little trepidation I must add, to getting stuck
into making a model with this scheme on it, I reckon it will be fun!
Patience and time are the main criteria when tackling this colour scheme but it
will be rewarded with a superb model that surely must stand out from the crowd!
Thanks to my wallet (looking rather thin after Christmas!) for the review sample
and to Flightdecs for providing the means to portray this truly colourful
aircraft, thank you and keep up the good work.
Price is 26.39 Can$ or US $19
Highly Recommended
