Fritz Decals has released a new decal sheet covering a range of interesting subjects for Revell's 1/32 scale Heinkel He 162.

This set includes individual markings for seven aircraft of JG 1, plus a full set of stencil data. A nice bonus is nine placard and panel decals for the cockpit interior, including a full-colour instrument panel. Even the small circular air hatch on the port side of the canopy is supplied as a decal.

The instructions are provided over eight A5 pages with one page dedicated to each aircraft.

Four view illustrations are supplied for all subjects, plus scrap view drawings to highlight particular features as appropriate. Positions for decals are called out by number, and colours are indicated by different shading and a colour key. This is quite effective and easy to follow.

Text information is included in both German and English.

This high quality is carried over to the decals, which are printed beautifully in perfect register by Cartograf of Italy.

Specific subjects all feature lower surfaces in RLM 76, while upper surfaces are mostly RLM 71 with a few RLM 81/83 schemes also included.

  • White 1 (red outline) of 1./JG 1

  • White 3 (back outline) of 3./JG 1

  • Yellow 3 (red outline) of 3./JG 1

  • Yellow 11 20 of #./JG 1.  This aircraft features a red-white-black nose cap and a red/white striped pitot tube

  • Red 1 of 2./JG 1

  • White 21 of 2./JG 1. This aircraft features a black-white-red nose cap

  • White 5 (red outline) or 1./JG 1

 

 

Conclusion

 

Fritz Decals' 1/32 scale markings for Revell's He 162 will add some extra interest to this excellent model.

The interpretation of the markings is certainly quite different to previous assumptions, especially the red outlines on White 1, White 5 and Yellow 3. Add all those arrows, colourful nosecaps and Staffel emblems and you will have a spectacular flightline!

Apart from the fascinating subjects, the packaging and presentation of Fritz Decals He 162 set are excellent.
