High Planes Models has released a set of markings for 1/48 scale RAAF Canberra B.20 models. This sheet was originally released during 2005.

These markings are now especially welcome with the release of the brand-new Classic Airframes Canberra B.Mk.2.

High Planes have supplied six marking options on their large, 270mm x 170mm decal sheet. These are all camouflaged aircraft.

Two basic camouflage schemes are suggested - Olive Drab and Extra Dark Sea Grey for Vietnam-era aircraft and beyond; and Olive Drab and Extra Dark Sea Grey with painted Aluminium lower surfaces for 1965-era aircraft. When you check your references you will note wide variations in contrast of the two main camouflage colours. For Vietnam era aircraft, the overall effect is quite dark with very low contrast and a dull finish. Post-Vietnam, contrast varied from low to high (the grey sometimes appearing lighter), and the finish was often quite glossy.

Squadron tail markings are supplied for early 1 and 2 Squadron aircraft, plus a late version of the 2 Squadron "lightning bolt" which includes the unit emblem.

Ample stencils are also supplied for at least one aircraft, and all the appropriate styles of national markings are also included.

By mixing and matching the serial numbers supplied, a large number of additional aircraft may be depicted too.

The decal film is glossy, but the markings themselves are fairly flat.

I have used these decals on Classic Airframes' 1/48 scale Canberra and they performed well.

A few of the larger markings with a lot of clear film had a tendency to silvering when first applied, but this was quickly eliminated by lightly slicing the film and applying MicroSol decal solution.

High Planes' 1/48 scale Canberra B.20 markings are versatile and produced to a high standard. They will be a great way to add some individuality to your 1/48 scale Classic Airframes or Aeroclub Canberras.
