Recently,
IsraDecals released an updated version
of one of their older, popular decal
sheet on the F-16C/D "Barak" in 1/48th
scale (IAF-42). I read a couple gripes
right after that about the 1/72nd
scale modelers getting ignored on this
nice colorful topic. IsraDecals must
have heard you as they have released a
new 1/72nd
scale copy of that decal sheet (IAF-48).
The 1/72nd
scale modelers no longer need to feel
like they are being ignored!
The Decals
The following images lay out the
contents of the the decal package. Click
on the images to see enlarged versions
of them.
The
following are further description on the
decal set.
- The decals are printed by
Cartograf. The registration of the
sample decals I received is perfect.
- The sheet provides enough
markings to make any F-16C/D "Barak"
in the Israeli AF.
- The Instructions booklet is well
printed in heavy paper stock.
Besides having clear instructions
for where to place the decals on the
model, there are a number of nice
color photographs of the aircraft
from all the units that the decals
provide.
- The tiny addendum decal sheet is
not a silk-printed decal. It appears
to be some type of ALPS style
printing. It provides the 50
Anniversary of the Israeli AF
marking. The back cover of the
instructions mentions that this
addendum decal sheet is on one big
carrier film and must be cut
manually to separate the markings
and eliminate excess film from the
decals.
The biggest down-side to these decals
is their price. The IsraDecals web site
lists them at $22.00. This is more money
than most F-16 model kits cost in the
first place. Don't let the price scare
you off, though. If you love the F-16C/D
"Barak", these are really great decals
that will not disappoint you.
These are great and colorful decals
of an aircraft that is unique to Israel
for the camouflage that it wears. I
don't build much 1/72 scale, but if I
did, this is one sheet I would make sure
to have in my stash. |
