Whether
you are a fan of the Lancaster, or an RAAF aficionado, Kits at War's
latest release will be very appealing.
This sheet includes markings for ten Lancasters,
including seven from 460 Squadron RAAF.
Markings
for the eleven aircraft are as follows,
-
Lancaster B. Mk.VI
ND673, fitted with Merlin 28 engines (so the Paragon conversion
will be required). Pathfinder aircraft with faired-over nose
turret.
-
Lancaster B. Mk.I
PD328, Empire Air Navigation School. This aircraft has an
astrodome replacing the mid-upper turret, and has "bars" on each
side of its RAF fuselage roundels.
-
Lancaster B. Mk.I
PD328, Empire Air Navigation School. This is presumably the same
aircraft as above after conversion to Lancastrian
specifications. This aircraft is finished in overall natural
metal and will need the Magna Models Lancastrian conversion.
|
-
Next are seven
Lancaster Mk.I and Mk.IIIs of 460 Squadron RAAF based at
Binbrook in England during September 1943. All of these aircraft
feature bomb logs and nose art in addition to standard RAF
markings. Specific aircraft are:
-
AR
A2
-
AR C
-
AR E
-
AR H
-
AR H2
-
AR N
-
AR L
Now, all of these
together that would make a spectacular diorama!
-
Bonus markings are
also supplied for a single P-38 J that was used for experimental
flights with bomber formations.

The main decal sheet
features thin carrier film and very good colour definition.
Registration on my sample is perfect. The supplementary decal sheet
with nose art is equally well printed, but you will need to cut out
the individual markings before they are applied to the model.
The decals should fit
either the new Hasegawa or the old (but still very respectable)
Airfix kit.
Highly Recommended
