Large Scale Planes is a well-known, high quality website that is devoted to, not surprisingly, large scale aircraft models. You can visit the site by following this link.

Large Scale Planes' (LSP) has now taken matters into their own hands with the release of a new range of decals. One of the first two sets of decals are 1/32 scale markings for Mosquito bombers.

This release includes the following subjects:

  • Mosquito Mk.IX LR503 GB-F, 105 Squadron, 1945

  • Mosquito Mk.IV Series II DK333 HS-H, 109 Squadron, 1944

  • Mosquito Mk.IV Series II W4072 GB-D, 105 Squadron, 1942

  • Mosquito Mk.IV Series II DZ464 XD-C, 139 Squadron, 1942

The decals include a brief history and some nicely presented, full colour placement diagrams.

The decals themselves are in register, and the colours look good. One set or early-war fuselage roundels and fin flashes are supplied along with the unique markings. The decal art was sourced from PD decals of Australia, but the addition of the high-quality instructions breathe new life into these markings, which have been unavailable for some years.

Another excellent addition, available for the first time, is stencil options. The modeller may choose to buy a set of these decals with a conventional waterslide decal stencil sheet; or with a dry-transfer rub-down stencil sheet (printed by Hobby Decal); or both. In all cases the stencil data is comprehensive and printing is crisp.

Conclusion

With the current escalation in 1/32 and 1/24 scale aircraft kit announcements and releases, it is nice to see Large Scale Models moving into this exciting area with their new decal range.

The greatest limiting factor is probably the availability of the old Revell Mosquito kit, but if you have one stashed away somewhere, or if you can find one at swap meets or online, these decals will be a must!

Recommended.
