Model Alliance continues its theme of Photo Reconnaissance Spitfires. Part III of this decal series supplies markings for eight Griffin engine Spitfires. These decals are only available in 1/48 scale.

The subjects cover a varied selection of colours and markings - PRU Blue by itself and in combination with Medium Sea Grey, Dark Green and Ocean Grey, natural metal and even the unusual post-war RAF Desert Scheme of Dark Earth and Light Slate Grey over Medium Sea Grey. In addition to five RAF aircraft, Sweden, Thailand and India are also represented on the sheet.

In fact, if you are in possession of the recent book, On Target Profiles 8 Photo Reconnaissance Spitfires in Worldwide Service by Jon Freeman, you will note that several other marking combinations are possible using the decals supplied on the sheet. For example, the Thai Spitfire PR. Mk.19 PS888 served originally with the RAF under the same serial. The book has a profile of this aircraft finished in RAF roundels.

Instructions are supplied on a single A4 folded sheet with port-side views of each aircraft. Once again, if you have the book, you will also be able to see starboard and plan views for these aircraft. A handy list of kits and conversion sets is included on the back page of the instructions.

The decals themselves are beautifully printed and in perfect register. Colours look good too, with a clear difference between the dull reds and blues of wartime roundels compared to their brighter post-war counterparts.

This is another high quality and interesting release of a relatively neglected subject.

Highly Recommended.
