Model Alliance carries on their
quest to comprehensively cover British aircraft in both the RAF and the Senior
Service with this new release, "UK Air Arm Update 2005-2006 Part II". These decals are available in
either 1/48 scale and 1/72 scales, but we are examining the 1/48 scale sample
here.
As with Part I, this installment covers a
good
selection of aircraft types in recent and current service. A nice variety of
camouflage and markings is offered on the decal sheet. There is a big emphasis
on special schemes, and there are some very attractive finishes amongst them.
The most spectacular would have to be the black Hawk with its prominent blue and
yellow livery.
Specifically, the subjects are:
-
Harrier GR7 ZD407 20 Sqn black fin with large squadron badge Wittering 2005;
-
Harrier T10 ZH660/108 800NAS Cottesmore 2006;
-
Tornado F3 ZG757 43 Sqn 90th Anniversary 2006 Overall black;
-
Eurocopter Squirrel HT 1 ZJ265/65 Defence Helicopter Flying School RAF
Shawbury 2006;
-
Puma
HC 1 XW214 33 Years of the Puma 2004 33 Sqn;
-
Puma
HC.1 XW223 2006 33 Sqn;
-
Puma
HC.1 XA934/ZA 1563 Flt Op Telic 2003;
-
Hawk T
1A XX205 208 (R ) Sqn 90th Anniversary Display Aircraft 2006 with blue and
yellow trim
Instructions are first rate.
They are supplied as a six page, stapled booklet with side and top views of all
8
subjects. In addition, the booklet this time includes a full page of colour
reference photos - a very nice touch. Each profile includes notes on the service of the aircraft and
available kits and/or conversions in 1/72 and 1/48 scales.
The decals themselves are
beautifully printed and in perfect register. Colours look good.
This is another high quality
and interesting release of a good selection of subjects in current British
service.
Highly Recommended.
