Model Alliance carries on their
quest to comprehensively cover British aircraft in both the RAF and the Senior
Service with this new release, "UK Air Arm Update 2005-2006 Part II". These decals are available in
either 1/48 scale and 1/72 scales, but we are examining the 1/48 scale sample
here.
As with Parts I & II, this installment covers a good selection of aircraft types
in recent and current service. A nice variety of camouflage and markings is
offered on the decal sheet.
Specifically, the subjects are:
-
Eurocopter SA 365N2 Dauphin Flag Officer Sea Training HMS Drake Plymouth,
ZJ164 Red 2003
-
Eurocopter SA 365N2 Dauphin Flag Officer Sea Training , ZJ165 Blue 2006.
-
Tornado F.3 ZG780 25 Sqn 90th Anniversary scheme with black fin;
-
Tornado F.3ZG753/HH 111 Sqn Display aircraft with black and yellow fin;
-
Alpha
Jet ZJ648 QinetiQ/ETPS Boscombe Down 1996;
-
SAAB
JAS-39B Grippen on loan to QinetiQ/ETPS Boscombe Down 2006 Blue Fin with
gold lettering;
-
Sea
King AsaC.7 ZD636/82 849 NAS RNAS Culdrose
-
Tucano
T Mk.1 ZF512 72(R) Sqn `Winged Victory' Linton-on-Ouse 2006;
Instructions are first rate.
They are supplied as a six page, stapled booklet with side and top views of all
8
subjects. In addition, the booklet this time includes a full page of colour
reference photos - a very nice touch. Each profile includes notes on the service of the aircraft and
available kits and/or conversions in 1/72 and 1/48 scales.
The decals themselves are
beautifully printed and in perfect register. Colours look good.
This is another high quality
and interesting release of a good selection of subjects in current British
service.
Highly Recommended.
