Model Alliance’s new release of HS/BAE 125 and Dominie decals contains eight schemes for these two transport aircraft of the RAF including the Royal No 32 Squadron.

This sheet fills a void that was previously filled by a company called Modeldecal many years ago, but I think these sheets are way out of production and may only possibly be found at swap and sell meets these days. The decals are nicely silk-screen printed on a very clear carrier film. The carrier film is quite thin and should disappear under a coating of clear finish. The decals are very crisply printed and have good detail and colour rendition. The colour reference sheet that is provided is excellent giving good colour reference and decal placement for the 8 schemes provided. A few small reference photographs of the aircraft are included in the colour instruction sheet. The artwork for the decals and the instruction sheet has been done by as usual by Jon Freeman and is superbly done.

Also included in this set are some of the data decals required for both types of aircraft. The eight schemes are as follows:

  • HS Dominie T1 XS736 of the Royal Air Force College of Air Warfare based at RAF Manby in August 1973. This aircraft is painted in Post Office Red BS381C:538, Light Aircraft Grey BS381:627 and White BS381C:302.

  • HS Dominie T1 XS731 of No 55 (Reserve) Squadron based at RAF Cranwell in September 2005. This aircraft is painted in Night BS381C:642 and White BS381C:302

  • HS Dominie T1 XS739 of No 55 (Reserve) Squadron based at RAF Cranwell in September 2002. This aircraft is painted in Night BS381C:642 and White BS381C:302

  • HS Dominie T1 XS728 of the Royal Air Force Training Command, 6FTS based at RAF Finningley in the late 197Os. This aircraft is painted in Post Office Red BS381C:538, Light Aircraft Grey BS381:627 and White BS381C:30.

  • HS Dominie T1 Series 2 XS710 of the original scheme during the 1960Os. This aircraft is painted in Aluminium BS381C:NA with fluorescent Day-glo orange panels on the outer wings, fin and nose.

  • BAE 125 ZD703 of the Royal Air Force 32 (The Royal) Squadron based at RAF Northolt in 2003. This aircraft is painted in Post Office Red BS381C:538 and White BS381C:3 with a blue flash along the fuselage.

  • BAE 125 ZD620 of the Royal Air Force 32 (The Royal) Squadron based at RAF Northolt in 2005. This aircraft is painted in White BS381C:30. with a red and blue outlined stripe along the fuselage.

  • BAE 125 CC2 XX507 of the Royal Air Force in the low viz scheme used during the 1990s. This aircraft is painted in Medium Sea Grey BS381C:637 with a pale blue fuselage stripe. All national markings are in the subdued low viz colours.

This is quite a brilliant sheet of beautifully printed decals for those modelers who have the Airfix HS Dominie T1 or the Matchbox BAE 125 stashed away in the cupboard.

Highly Recommended.
