FirstLook

For those looking for a little something different in the way of markings for the Trumpeter 1/48 MiG-19 PM Farmer E kit, Hi-Decal Line has a sheet that may fit the bill. Sheet number 48-020 has markings for six aircraft, all in natural metal finish.

  • “Red 04”, MiG-19PM Farmer E, 16th Air Army, Soviet Air Force; East Germany 1959.

  • “Black 1113”, MiG-19PM Farmer E, Czechoslovak Air Force; 1965. This aircraft is the most colorful on the sheet, featuring red on the wingtips, tips of the tail surfaces, and fuselage scoops. There is also a red lightning bolt on the side of the nose and four red stars on the canopy rail.

  • “Red 335”, MiG-19PM Farmer E, 1st Sqn, 3rd Fighter Regiment, East German Air Force; Preschen A.B. 1962.

  • “Red 741”, MiG-19PM Farmer E, 66th Fighter Regiment, Romanian Air Force; Boreca A.B., 1965.

  • “Red 905”, MiG-19PM Farmer E, 28th Fighter Regiment, Polish Air Force; Stupsk-Redzikowo A.B., 1971

  • “Red 82”, MiG-19P Farmer B, Cuban Revolutionary Air Force; San Antonio de los Baños A.B., 1962. Note that this aircraft is the earlier cannon-armed MiG-19P and some minor conversion work will have to done on the Trumpeter kit to model this version

The decals are very thin and have excellent registration. A small number of stencils are also provided for the fuselage. The painting instructions provide color matches for Humbrol and Model Master paints. For those working on the Bilek 1/72 scale kit, this sheet is also available as number 72-040.

Recommended.
