First Look

This terrific decal set comprises four full-sized decal sheets plus two double sided, full colour, letter sized sheets of instructions.

"Naughty Invaders" continues Albatros Modelworks' dedication to the weird and wonderful. The set is available in both 1/72 and 1/48 scale. Eleven Invaders of various mark are covered in a great variety of colours and markings. These are:

  • An A-26 B from the Biafran Air Force. This is an ex-French B-26B that was converted to a B-26R radar-equipped Invader. A replacement resin nose with the thimble radome is supplied with the decal set,

  • A 26B CIA Invader "Operation Pluto" during the Bay of Pigs invasion

  • A-26B Fuerza Aerea Hondurena in overall Midnight Blue,

  • a B-26K in SEA camouflage with service in the USAF during Operation "Steel Tiger",

  • A-26B Indonesian AF with spectacular blue fuselage markings and a fierce, toothy mouth

  • A-26B Portuguesa AF,

  • Two black A-26Bs in the USAF during the Korean War,

  • A-26C of the Arm'ee de l'Air in Algeria, in black with a white fuselage top deck

  • Two Congolese B-26Ks in Gloss Emerald Green and Light Grey

Radome Nose

The radome nose is cast well in yellow resin.

It is designed to replace the glass nose in the Monogram version of the kit, so you'll need to do a bit of cutting if you plan to use the more recent solid-nosed ProModeler boxing.

Conclusion

Albatros Modelworks rich tradition of unconventional but inspirational subjects continues with this release. The inclusion of the resin nose for the esoteric B-26R with a single gun in the nose raises this commitment to esoteria to new heights.

The timing of this release is good, too, with the new Cutting Edge A-26A/B-26K Nimrod conversion, plus their separate eight-gun nose.

Congratulations to Albatros Modelworks for another great release!

Highly Recommended to fans of small Air Forces in general, or of the A-26 in particualar.
