Meteor Productions has supplied the following
information on two forthcoming very large decal releases for
Trumpeter's new 1/24 scale Mustang. Please note that these decals have
been sized specifically for the Trumpeter kit and certain markings may
not fit other 1/24 scale Mustang kits:
Cutting Edge will ship the first two decal sets for
the new Trumpeter 1/24 scale P-51D in the next couple of weeks. This
is a huge kit, and the decal sets for this kit take a slightly
different form from the usual Cutting Edge content.
The decals are, in total, at least three times the normal size sheet,
and CED24001 contains a free BlackMagic™ mask for the gray area
behind Eagleston's eagle insignia.
The sets both also supply correctly proportioned, designed, and sized
national insignia to replace the kit decals. For large white markings,
duplicates are provided in case you feel one layer of color is too
translucent. If you want a more opaque white, just apply the second
decal over the first.
Details for each sheet are as follows:
CED24001 Great Mustangs Pt 1:
-
P-51D-20-NA, Ridge Runner
III, 44-72308, Maj. Pierce McKennon, 335th FS, 4th FG;
-
P-51D-15-NA, Glamorous Glen
III, 44-14888, Capt. Charles Yeager, 363rd FS, 357th FG;
-
P-51D-20-NA, 44-63607, Lt.
Col. Glenn Eagleston, 353rd FS, 354th FG
USD$18.99
NOTES:
Ridge Runner III: The Trumpeter kit has the exhausts at the wrong
angle, which forces the cowling panel lines out of their proper
positions. We have made our decal the proper size and shape, because
it could not have matched the kit panel lines without being quite
distorted. Also, the kit rear fuselage is too deep, distorting the
actual rudder shape; our decal of course fits the kit rudder.
Eagleston: In spite of the sometimes controversy about the color
painted behind the eagle insignia, Eagleston's ground crew members
report that they painted gray primer first so the eagle artwork would
not flake off in the windstream. But, it you don't like gray, a FREE
BlackMagic mask is supplied so you can paint the background any color
you wish. You will note that the eagle insignia is correct per the
close-up photos of Eagleston¹s aircraft.
