This decal sheet is my first introduction to Start Verlag as an aftermarket decal manufacturer and I must say I am very impressed.

The 1/72 scale decal sheet covers Fw 190 and Bf 109 subjects.

It is very finely printed (by screen print process, I think). The decals are sharp and extremely clear, in perfect register, and on very thin film. Because of the thinness of the clear film the decals will have to be handled carefully. Each decal is individual and not printed as a part of an overall sheet.

There are six Bf 109 schemes and three Fw 190 schemes provided. The details are as follows:

  • Bf  109E-4 Yellow 6 W.Nr. 746 of 9./JG 3 September 1940 RLM 71/02/65

  • Bf 109F-2 Black 9 Winter 1941/42 RLM 74/75/76 with RLM 74/75/70 mottle

  • Bf 109G-2 Yellow 10 W.Nr. 14800 flown by Fw Hans Dobrich of 6./JG 5 April/May 1943 in Finland. RLM 79/78/70

  • Bf 109G-6 Brown 12 flown by Uffz. Rudolf Dreesman of 12./JG 51 in Mar 1944 RLM 74/75/76

  • Bf 109G-14 Blue 8 flown by Ofw. Heinz Halstrick 16./Jg 5 in Oct 1944. RLM 74/75/76

  • Bf 109G-14/AS White 13 W.Nr. 784993 flown by Uffz. Maxis of 13./JG 53 during operation Bodenplatte in 1945. RLM 75/83/76

  • Fw 190A-5 Red X W.Nr. 410054 Flown by Oberst Grabmanns 1943-44 RLM 74/75/76

  • Fw 190A-4 Black 6 flown by Fw. Bremer of 5./JG1 in 1943. RLM 74/75/76

The instructions are well research and clearly printed in colour. The best part is that there are 4 views of each aircraft so no confusion is made about decal placement. The subjects seem to be well researched.
My only disappointment is that national insignia will have to be obtained from other sheets as they are not included.

Highly Recommended.

Thanks to Start-Verlag  for the review sample
