Those of you that have the Sword 1/48 T-38A need to order this
sheet!! This sheet is all about Test T-38s from the US Navy Test
Pilot School and the USAF Test Pilot School. You get three options
on the sheet, one Edwards AFB test jet and two USNTPS Talons. The
Navy ones are quite colorful with red orange bands from the tip of
the nose to the top of the vertical stab.
The sheet is very well researched and Bob had some assistance from
members of both schools. The instructions are full color and contain
pictures of the actual aircraft on the sheet. I find this quite
valuable to compare colors and even weathering. The Edward jet has a
special instrumented pitot boom installed for high angle of attack
tests. The photos included give you some assistance scratch building
this boom. It looks quite simple to do. All three aircraft are
overall FS17875 white with FS37038 black anti glare panels.
The decals themselves are in perfect register on my sheet. The red
orange looks just like the pics I have of USNTPS jets. The colors
all seem spot on to me. There is hardly any carrier film to be seen.
Another cool thing is how the USAF for the port side lower wing is
already cut so in order to aid in positioning on a gear down model.
What else can be said about this sheet other than it is up to Two
Bobs usual high standards. I for one am happy to see some colorful
subjects like the T-38 starting to get some attention. I am sure
this sheet will be a quick seller for Bob Sanchez.
My thanks to Bob Sanchez of Two Bobs Aviation Graphics for the
review sample. The sheet runs $9.50 USD and can be ordered directly
