One of Two Bobs latest releases is sheet
48-067 F-11A Combat Lancer Aardvarks. The sheet depicts three F-11As
that were part of the first six jets deployed to Takhli Air Base in
Thailand. All three jets wear the SEA camouflage over a black
underside. The markings on these jets are fairly sparse as no crew
names or mission markings were used (on jets 60018 and 60016) during
their Combat Lancer deployment. They tallies and names were added upon
their return to Nellis AFB. The names are included on the sheet so you
have the option of making these jets either during deployment or
after. Bob has included a bunch of stencils on the sheet so you will
have plenty of spares for another project.
The instructions are full color and provide some very useful photos of
the actual jets depicted. There is also a brief history of all six
jets that deployed for Combat Lancer including the two replacement
aircraft sent. The back side of the instruction sheet provides a top
and bottom view along with paint callouts. There is also a brief
history of Combat Lancer detailing the combat effectiveness of the
F-111A. There is also a “typical” loadout recommendation provided for
Combat Lancer missions.
For those that have an Academy or even Monogram 1/48 F-111A sitting
around waiting for markings, here is your answer. The sheet is very
well laid out and the colors are spot on. My thanks to Bob Sanchez
from Two Bobs for the review sheet. All Two Bobs decals can be ordered
