Yellowhammer has introduced another fine quality decal sheet depicting farewell schemes for two F14D Tomcats of VF-213. This is the first sheet in the farewell series.

The decals are designed for the Hasegawa or Revell 1/48 scale kits. The decals are superbly printed with good colour saturation and excellent register. As usual the carrier film is ultra thin and my experience with the Yellowhammer decals that I have used in the past is that the decals have to be handled carefully and snuggle down into the surface detail well. The carrier film then almost totally disappears under a coat of clear.

Markings are provided for 2 aircraft as follows:

  1. F14D of VF-213 Black Lions based at NAS Oceana Virginia in March 2006 Serial No 164602 painted in overall FS16440. The aircraft has the cockpit and spine area as well as the rudder and fin cap painted in FS15102 Blue. The Black Lion emblem is trimmed in gold and the seven gold stars are applied over the blue rudder.

  2. F14D of VF-213 Blacklions NAS Oceana Virginia in March 2006 Serial No 164347 painted in FS35237 upper surface and FS36375 Lower Surface. The aircraft has the cockpit and spine area painted in FS15052 and FS 15080 Blue. The Black Lion emblem is trimmed in gold and the six black stars are applied around the Black Lion emblem.

Yellowhammer has included masks to paint the blue cockpit and spine area on both aircraft which is a fitting touch and saves a lot of work in lining up the masking.

The guys at Yellowhammer have once again done a superb job of the decal artwork and the instruction sheet artwork. Two photographs of the aircraft depicted are included within the instruction sheet for further clarity.

Highly Recommended
